According to the requirements of the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, there are currently 190 cities in the country that publicly release air quality information, and they have more complete and continuous PM2.5 monitoring data than other cities. Greenpeace has exclusively compiled the "Annual Urban PM2.5 Ranking". Readers can find the annual average PM2.5 value of the city they live in on the list and compare it with the "national standard" of 35 micrograms per cubic meter to understand what they breathe. environmental conditions.
Key Interpretation of List Information
1. The average annual concentration of PM2.5 in 190 cities across the country is 60.8 micrograms per cubic meter. Among them, only 18 cities have the average annual concentration of PM2.5 reaching the “national standard” of 35 micrograms per cubic meter, and more than 90% of the cities exceed the standard! And a quarter of the city's PM2.5 concentration is even more than twice the national secondary standard.
2. The air in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is still severe: Among the 10 cities with the worst annual average PM2.5 concentrations, seven are located in Hebei Province, and the remaining three are from Shandong Province. Some cities in Henan, Hubei, Anhui, Shaanxi, Jiangsu and other provinces also ranked higher in terms of the annual average PM2.5 value, and all of them exceeded the national secondary standard by more than twice.
3. In 2014, 38 buildings experienced heavy pollution and severe pollution weather for more than one month (30 days). In addition to the above-mentioned Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Shandong regions, these cities are located in Hubei, Henan, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Shanxi. PM2.5 pollution in the central and western regions is also worthy of attention.
How we created this ranking:
In order to comprehensively and objectively show the status of PM2.5 pollution in each city in 2014, Greenpeace and the "National Air Quality Index" collected from the public information platform of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China all national air quality monitoring sites in cities where relevant information has been disclosed. The daily hourly PM2.5 value is used as the original data, and the annual average value of PM2.5 in different cities is calculated according to the arithmetic average method, and strives to objectively reflect the PM2.5 pollution status of these cities in 2014.
